    Describe how you would manage a patient with corns?

    1. Determine the cause of the corn (generally a hammertoe or exostosis).
    2. Determine the extent of the problem it causes the patient and whether non-surgical methods such as better shoe selection might offer permanent results.
    3. If permanent results cannot be reasonably anticipated by non-surgical methods, and patient is a good surgical candidate, determine whether the patient is acceptable to palliative, on-going treatment such as repetitive reduction of the corn with or without padding, or whether he/she prefers or requires permanent resolution which would require some form of surgery.
