Default US 'pregnant man' has baby girl

From the BBC:
US 'pregnant man' has baby girl
Quote:
An American man who was born female but underwent gender realignment surgery, has given birth to a female baby, US media have reported.
Thomas Beatie, 34, is legally male but kept his female reproductive organs after having breast surgery to remove glands and flatten his chest.
Both Mr Beatie and his daughter are reported to be doing well in a hospital in Bend, Oregon.
He was inseminated using sperm from an anonymous donor.
The birth was natural, a source at St Charles Medical Center in Bend told ABC News, and took place on Sunday.
According to some reports, Mr Beatie had had a Caesarean section.
Mr Beatie, who sports a wispy beard, made headlines around the world when he revealed in April that he was pregnant.

I'm new to this forum. Really its very intresting . People.com has confirmed that Thomas Beatie a.k.a. “the pregnant man” has given birth to a baby girl. The birth was not done by C-Section as some earlier reports suggested but the good old fashioned way.

so im confused they say this man was born female so does that mean he had a genital sex change or that stayed the same obviously for a natural childbirth? I saw this guy on tv and was all sorts of confused.

This one is new to me. Apparently, he kept his female parts because he wanted to do this. It still seems odd but females give birth all the time and this is no different. Just because you remove your breasts and take male hormones it doesn't change who you are. Obviously, he was still a she.

On second thought, was he born female or born both female and male? Anyone know?
