8 days ago, my son, who drives a power wheelchair (total weight 400 lbs) drove on top of my foot and stopped. My foot immediately swole up. Withiin a few minutes the swelling started. I sat in the hot tub for about an hour (93 degrees). The swelling went down and I was able to walk on my foot. The next day I had no problem bearing weight or walking. The swelling then came back and my foot has red dots and a large 5 mark on top in red. The rest of the foot is light blue. Several days passed and the swelling went back down. Then I started getting a darker bruise where my toes meet the foot. Meanwhile I am having no pain while walking or bearing weight. By about the 4th day, I felt like I had a giant fluid bubble on top of my foot. When I walked, it would move around. I called my General Practioner and asked if I needed to come in. He said no that it would heal itself. He said if it was an air bubble, I would already be dead. Yesterday (the 7th day), it started hurting to walk, but not to bear weight. The swelling is back again also. Any suggestions of what I should do?

UPDATE: I decided to go to an orthopedist. He xrayed my foot from three angles and said I didn't break anything. He told me to take Naproxen for the swelling and it should go away. It has been another two weeks now and the swelling is still there and the top of my foot burns. My ankle and the back of my calf is now burning. Does anyone have any thought of what might be going on or what type of doctor I should see for this? I still can't wear any shoes without it hurting. Walking doesn't bother it as long as I am barefoot. Sleeping bothers it because it rubs on the bed so every morning I wake up with it hurting.

Are there any color or temperature change (especially paleness or reddish blue coloration and coolness) in the foot or leg or mottling (blotching of different shades of coloring) of the skin? And is there any tingling which radiates from the foot up the leg? If so, look up CRPS and RSD and see if your symptoms match. If they do, head for a doctor right away.
