My name is Justin, im 22, live in tennessee, and i have suffered a clean breaking of my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metatarsals. this break occurred when a 200 lb. man stomped on my foot. This happened at about 11:00pm and i was forced to wait until 8:00am the following day to go to the emergency room for treatment. (just another un-insured American who is now out of work)
Due to my lack of cash or insurance, i had to wait two weeks to follow up with the orthopedic specialist, who originally told me i needed to have the bones set and put in a cast. Once he found out i was uninsured however, he simply told me to stay off of it and come back and see him in 4 weeks.
Well its been 6 weeks since the break occurred, and i've been forced to walk on it. a friend gave me a boot she was given for her broken foot that she refuses to wear.
My level of pain is around 4+, but only when i have to walk on it. so my question is: where to go from here...... some forms of physical therapy... i just don't know

There is rarely a substitute for proper treatment. If you had less than the advisable treatment, you probably should not expect an optimum result. If you could obtain the optimum result without the proper treatment than that would be the proper treatment. As with most any service, the cheapest way is not often the best. At this point, you probably need an evaluation to determine the second best course, not an Internet opinion.
