Advice re getting custom shoes?

    I am looking for a good custom-shoe maker. There are seven places that make shoes relatively close to me (five in San Francisco, two in eastern Contra Costa County, California). Does anyone have any suggestions how to find out which one of them might be the best? (My left foot is pronated, which makes it *very* hard to find comfortable shoes.)
