I had bunion surgery on my right foot about 18 years ago. Recently, it doesn't matter what type of shoe I wear, I experience pain on the bottom of my foot between my toes and the ball of my foot. It becomes more excruciating when in a heel type of shoe. When I take my (right foot only) out of my shoes after wearing them, I experience pain until my foot is flat for about 15 minutes after.

I'm wondering if this might have anything to do with my surgery, if it's normal years later to experience this pain.

Like I said, this occurs when wearing any type of shoe lately, so I seem to think it doesn't have anything to do with the type of shoe I'm wearing.

It is not likely that you are suddenly experiencing pain as a result of an apparently (as you have not otherwise implied) successful bunionectomy 18 years ago, but, just offhand, a Morton's neuroma and/or mpj capsulitis might be among the many considerations. See a Board Certified podiatrist.
