    Hello..
Most nights, I experience this burning, numbness in the big toe area of only my right foot.
It wakes me up, and it is happening more often lately. It began happening for several months ago.
I am 71, and several years ago I had that ankle replaced....but I did not experience this burning sensation until recently. Several years ago, I also had my big toenail removed, and I have had hammer toe surgery on that foot....but not the big toe.
I hope this is enough info....and thanks for your time.

The only piece of information that I might "take to the bank" from your description is that the problem occurs at night, apparently when you are in bed. That would suggest the possibility of this being a nerve compression problem brought on by a recumbent position. This might indicate back involvement or compression of an area along which the nerve travels. But these are merely guesses, and burning, numbness and other nerve disorders can occur for both physical and medical reasons which can only be determined by a hands-on evaluation by an appropriate specialist, which may be an internist or a neurologist or an orthopedist or a podiatrist. But it is terribly unlikely that anyone in a forum can provide you with a means of relief.
