I was waken last night with severe stabbing pain in my pinky toe. Each episode lasted a couple of seconds but continued throughout the night. The pain was so severe and constant. Today my foot and toe has a constant dull pain. Any input??

Sudden sharp pain in left little toe
Over the past year, I've had several occurrences of sudden sharp pain in my left little toe. Never has the pain lasted for more than 30 seconds, but the pain is intense. Twice in the last week this event has woken me up out of a sound sleep around 4AM. It feels like someone stabbed my left little toe with a knife! Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.
