Hi, i have had sesamoiditis for the last 18 years. I have managed the condition with foot pads, etc after having an xray and being told no action would be taken. However over the last 2 years i have developed a large blister on the side of my foot just above the sesamoid lump. I went to a chiropodist/podiatrist yesterday and she said that she had never seen a blister so large or in that position before. She said it was unrelated to the sesamoiditis and that it wasn't a normal blister as it was very thick. She suggested it was caused by the jelly leaking out of the bone. She proceeded to try and burst it with a scalpel.Blood came out so she just bandaged it up and said "next time you go to your doctor, just mention it".She said there was nothing really to be done, just manage it.I am not happy with her response and felt a bit fobbed off.I have tried researching jelly leakage from the bone or blister caused by jelly leakage but cannot find anything, anywhere relating to this.Does this condition actually exist or has anyone else heard of it? I can't believe this isn't somehow due to the sesamoiditis.

Without examining you, I cannot give you specific advice on either malady, but NO, there is no such condition wherein "jelly" leaks from a bone. There IS no jelly in bones (unless you boil them in a pot and and partially hydrolyze the collagen to gelatin), and I trust you've not done that. You should have said to her, "You're the foot doctor . . What do you mean that I should ask my general doctor about a problem associated with my foot?" And what do you mean by "having an x-ray and being told no action would be taken." Indeed, in my opinion you've been fobbed (had to look that one up) not once but twice. If I were you, I'd demand my money back, unless it was NHS in the U.K. and then you got quid pro quo for what you paid.
