New here....just introducing myself...On May 26 2014 I broke my 5th metatarsal and was place in a boot. Saw a specialist Friday for a second opinion due to no healing. Was told he would never had put me in a boot. I must have surgery. Will be speaking to the surgeron tomorrow. Im really afraid there will be alot of pain from this surgery. I also have CLL (leukemia) so not sure surgeon will even do the surgery. How long will this take to heal and how bad was the pain after surgery. Thanks for any comments.

Hi, my name is Bethany and I found this sight while researching fat pad atrophy in feet. Happy to be here. You can find me in my "favorite" section on guess what? fpa.

I am feeling better just knowing that I have a place to go to check in with folks who are grappling with foot issues/problems.

    See you on the forum.
    Thanks.

Hi, I'm Sherri and looking for some direction - I had bone spurs removed from my big toe a year and 3 months ago as well as a spacer put in the joint where it was bone on bone and a frayed tendon on top, repaired. All was going well when at 3.5 months post op I played tennis (started a couple weeks before just hitting). For 3 weeks my pain got worse and it was discovered I stress fractured the 2nd toe. Back in a boot for 3 months (and not good for the big toe that was supposed to be moving). I did get back to tennis after 4 or 5 months of the 2nd boot wearing but now am still experiencing pain and swelling at night and some during the day. A podiatrist (Highly recommended) did the surgery. Today I saw an orthopedic foot doc who said she doesn't use spacers - thought maybe mine was too big for my toe! Wants me to try dynasplint? But didn't have much hope after that.
Anyone have any insight into this? I would greatly appreciate it. I am a personal trainer and have trouble working as well as doing the things I so love to do. Thanks,Sherri
