A week ago while on a walk I came upon a snake that I startled. Of course I jumped away from it and rolled my left ankle when I landed. I was still able to walk with a limp and moderate pain. That night I iced it and took Tylenol yet I was still in pain. Because my ankle never bruised and only had minimal swelling I put off getting it check for another day. I went to the urgent care 2 days after this happened and they did x-rays that didn't show any fractures. The doc said I had a grade II sprain and my ankle was wrapped and put in an air-cast and I was out the door. I have rested my ankle and kept the air-cast on when leaving my house. The pain seems to be holding on even though my ankle is not bruised or swollen. Is it even possible to have a sprained ankle without the swelling/bruising or could something else be going on?

It would be rather unusual to have a Grade II ankle sprain and not have swelling, but there is no way that someone one the Internet can tell you more than the doctor who examined you. If you have problems with the diagnosis or advice given, have it re-evaluated.
