I have bunions on both feet and am seriously considering surgery, which my podiatrist has recommended. Is it feasible to have both feet done at once?

Unless one's individual health issues dictate otherwise, the feasibility has more to do with the patient's needs and desires rather than those of the doctor. All bunions are not alike, and there are different sorts of procedures which are appropriate for correcting different sorts of bunions. If procedures are anticipated for a least one of the feet which does not necessitate casting, certainly, in most cases, both bunions can be operated at the same time, as ambulation, even with crutches, can generally begin only a short period of time after the surgery. If a procedures requiring casting are required for both feet, then it becomes more difficult to consider operating both at the same time unless the patient is willing to spend several weeks in a wheel chair or in bed. So, much of the feasibility depends on the needs and desires of the patient. My general preference for patients requiring bunion surgery of both feet, where at least one foot does not require casting is to do them both at the same time. But that decision is made in concert with the patient and based on my evaluation of the needs and tolerances of that patient. Speak with your own surgeon about this issue.
