child's foot hurts at night

    My 4 year old wakes up at night w/ foot pain. Nearly always the same foot (left), not very clear about where on the foot hurts but seems to indicate the "top" more often that not. Rubbing & motrin helps. X-rays & so forth have shown nothing. Any ideas? Thanks.

    I should also mention that his foot or feet seem to "go to sleep" often- I can't say if it's one more than the other & I don't know if it's related at all.

    Certainly only a possibility, but, among other things, I would have him checked out for an avascular necrosis of the navicular bone know as Kohler's (also Köhler, also Koehler's) disease. See a podiatrist.
