Question tight achilles tendon causing sever planter fasciitis

Hi group, My archillies tendon is so tight it is causing severe planter faciitis. I have tried the stretching diligently. Doc says best solution would be to lengthen the archillies tendon, which in turn would decrease the pulling on the planter faciitis. Can I please have some feedback? How about recovery time? Its bilateral. Feet are flat and ankles are braced due to severe chronic bilateral ankle instability. He also strongly suggested to do only one ankle at a time or I would feel miserable. He also said I would be able to return to work in about 10 days as long as they give me a sitting job for a while.
Thanks for your input.

I have made these same comments many times before, and have yet to get anything other than a snippy response. But for the life of me, I cannot understand how any reasonable person goes to a doctor of his/her own selection, obtains a diagnosis and advice for a surgical procedure which he/she is considering, and then comes to a forum such as this for information to either confirm or overrule that which had been obtained by the chosen doctor who is far more knowledgeable in the case and its nuances and complicating factors, and has ostensibly made an assessment of the patient in question, his/her physical status, needs and peculiarities. Questioner have to keep in mind that all patients, all condition, all surgical procedures and all situations are not alike, and cannot be compared in such a fashion so as to be a basis for individual judgment. If the doctor has been chosen wisely and for good medical reasons, then, if in spite of that fact, there still remains some doubt as to the accuracy of his/her judgment, then another, better chosen doctor should be consulted for a hands-on second opinion. PLEASE . . . Do yourself a favor and do not subject yourself and your health decisions to the random opinions of others who do not have the fact at hand upon which such opinions might be reasonably based. What you are doing here is NOT valid research, and I am attempting to steer you in the proper direction of thinking, although, if previous attempts are any measure, you likely will not take it that way. But, anyhow . . . that's MY input. This, and forums such as this are NOT appropriate venues for the dealing with specific cases, and should only be used to obtain GENERAL information.
