Default Desperate to contact people with Charcot's in Australia

If there are any people with Charcot's foot in Australia or any professionals that know how to treat this condition in Brisbane - who really know something about it - and have been successful in the past. Please contact me melanie6@optusnet.com.au because I am desperate for help.

Thankyou.
Melanie

I would recommend that you find and Internet diabetic support forum where you might obtain the mainly anecdotal lay information and social interaction which it seems is your desire. Use any search engine.

Melanie,
Depends on what you are after. ?? i.e. do you or a family member have a charcot's foot, are you simply after more info, are you a health practitioner and have a client with diagnosed or suspected charcots etc??

I would suggest contacting the major Brisbane hospitals with existing teams/units of specialized health practitioners such as podiatrists, orthotists, endocrinologists, vascular surgeons etc who have protocols in place to diagnose and treat charcots. You may also find some community practitioners (podiatrists , orthotisits , wound management nurses) who also have experience in this area)
Failing that try contacting the Queensland Wound Management Association ( http://www.awma.com.au/state/qld.php ) could point you in the right direction. There is most likely reliable contacts to be found on Qld state podiatry association websites as well. Look for those people who have experience and function as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Good luck

I was just reading about this condition and how hard it can be to diagnose.

I work (admin) for a company that makes orthotics/braces. How is your Arizona brace working out? I see the orders come in and out, but have little oportunity to hear from patients.
