I would suggest that better you speak with your child's pediatrician in respect to the possible need for a neurological evaluation. Has this toe-walking never been noticed or brought to his/her attention previously?

Please see our wiki page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toe_walking

My son experienced this and after ruling out various other possible conditions, it was considered "ideopathic" or "habitual" toe walker. He ended up wearing braces for a few years and has stretched his tendons to the point where he can now have normal range of motion. He still sees the orthopedic specialist twice a year for follow up. Please see your pediatrician for a referral to a pediatric orthopedist.

Good luck!
