Default 8 year old walking on inside of heels

I have noticed that my 8 year old is walking on the inside of his feet. It is very noticeable on his shoes because of the wear on the inner heel part of the sole. One side is worse than the other. I have made a dr. appointment, but it's still a while away. Is this a sign of something serious? I am quite worried. Thank you.

A simple bio-mechanical examination should be performed before anything definitive can be said in regard to these findings. Most any good podiatrists should be able to give you a reasonably quick answer you desire, and I would rather not lead you possibly astray with an errant guess.

I'm pritty sure my left foot is fine but I notice that the heal of my shoe wares much more on my right.
