Club-foot correction surgery in the age of 15?
My daughter is 15 now. She has been club-footed since her birth. She received conservative treatments (no surgery) when she was a liitle child. However, these treatments have not helped her problem. Does anyone know if it is possible to correct her club-footedness by surgery without substantial risks in her present age? We have heard that a French group of surgeons have recently worked out a surgical treatment also applicable for teenagers, not just for small children. (For a 1.5-2 years duration a pin will be build in the patient's ankle (calcaneus). Certainly my daughter as a 15 year old young lady would do anything (even go under surgery) to corrrect her feet. We, her parents, however, have a lot of reservations regarding risks inherent in such a surgery. Does anyone have similar experience?
