Please, someone help me!
I've been suffering with foot pain for a number of years now, and soon I'll be starting a job which requires a lot of standing. I'm worried that it will get worse and I'll have to give up the job.
It started in 2004 when I was working as a security officer which involved standing a lot of the time. When I went to the doctor about it I was told that I had Plantar Fasciitis. I was shown some stretches to do, and also given a night splint to wear. It took around a year for things to improve but over the past few years there have been periods when it gets better before flaring up again. I am no longer a security officer, and spend a lot of time sitting.
I've had the problem in both feet, but for quite a while now I've only been having the problem with the left foot. I continue to do the stretches, and also do strengthening exercises for the ankles but still suffer. I even went private and paid to see a Sports Physiotherapist a few months ago, but with limited improvements.
I feel pain in the part of the tendon that goes under the ankle bone, in the tendons under the arch of the foot (these feel like they're tearing), but the biggest problem that I have is that the ridge of my foot, and my heal feels bruised quite a lot of the time. The padding in these areas feels very soft.
If anyone could give me advice on how I can improve the bruised feeling in my foot, and the other problems, I would be very very grateful
Kind regards,
Paul
