Default Peripheral neuropathy

My husband has peripheral neuropathy due to a copper deficiency. He has Crohn's Disease. We heard there was some kind of treatment that insurance does not pay for, but would heal peripheral neuropathy as long as it was not diabetic neuropathy.

Whatever it is, if it were truly effective, don't you think that insurance companies would be happy to pay for it instead of all the money they pay for treatment of peripheral neuropathy, most with only limited if any effect? There's nothing more that third-party payers like than dependably effective treatments which keep patients from having to return for continual care.

I have also been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and I'm not diabetic.
I have been on Neurontin (actually Gabapentin) and I recently became aware of a product that has me very interested. I have yet to order it, however I am planning to do it soon. Check on the internet under

Good Luck...

CD does not cause neuropathy, but rather spinal cord disease. The treatment of CD is replacement therapy, which is very cheap, though it needs to be monitored by a physician as it could also cause severe adverse events if not appropriate.

I disagree that Crohns Disease does not cause neuropathy. It is common for CD patients to have a vitamin B-12 deficiency and this can can lead to peripheral neuropathy.
That is what I have.

The neurologist poster was using "CD" to be short for "copper deficiency," not Chron's disease.

My mother has neuropathy. Just diagnosed 4 months ago. She began taking Vitamin B-12 and lyrica 100mg 2x per day she takes them at night. Because they make her very dizzy and also she began taking vicodin 7.5 and it took some of the pain away.

I would research this and ask your doctor about this regimen. I hope this works for you. You may also want to check into 5-HTP 50mg I take this myself for my painful legs and feet and it seems to work for me.

Once again . . I do believe that the neurologist was using the abbreviation "CD" for "copper deficiency," not Crohns disease
