I am a 24 year old, personal trainer, hiphop, jazz, modern dancer, and a avid exerciser. I was diagnosed with a mortons neuroma in my right foot over a year and a half ago. I have undergone 3 cortisone shots to it, and 8 sclerosing (alcohol) injections to it to kill the nerve. At the 8th alcohol injection, I had though I was feeling little relief so I moved forward to meet with a surgeon to discuss further options. We discussed doing a procedure called decompression where they cut a ligament to relieve pressure. Two weeks before this was to happen, the pain started to go away and my other foot began to hurt a lot. An ultrasound was done on the other foot to find that there was nothing in it, no neuroma thank goodness, but just inflammation, which is still not gone and very painful. I decided to call off the decompression surgery in light of advice from a family friend retired podiatrist, who had said that it would be better to remove the entire neuroma and that I should expect a good and full recovery. I went to see the same sergeon yesterday to schedule the new procedure, and he told me that he no longer felt comfortable doing surgery on me and thought that I was not a good candidate at this time, that he though that he could not give me the results that I was looking for. Although the actual site of the neuroma has calmed a bit (most likely due to the alcohol injections), I am still have severe pain around my knee on the same leg and I get tightness in the thigh muscle, what I was told by a physical therapist 6 months ago is my I T band becoming inflamed and that I need to fix my foot before I go looking for cures to the tightness in the upper part of my leg and pain around my knee. I am hopeing my left foot heals faster since I caught that early on, however I am at a loss for what to do about the foot with the neuroma. The sergeon gave me references of doctors he called anesthesiologist pain specialist. He siad they can do an injection in my spine that creates some type of blockage and will releive me of my pain. I want my career back and I want my life back. This injury is really starting to take a tole on me. Im becoming depressed and want to beleive that Im not going to have pain forever. Any light shead on this topic by professionals or people who have a simular story would be welcomed. Even kind words or just simple advice. I am VERY scared to have the surgery now after what the surgeon said. What should I do?

It is not clear to me whether your doctor is simply attempting to get rid of you possibly because he was miffed that you didn't follow through with his recommendations or whether there are really some factors present which actually makes you a poor candidate for further surgery. I would recommend your starting over from the get-go and seeking another opinion from a well-vetted podiatrist.
