Okay I know that they are probably NOT really ankles...but that is the best way to describe them. I have asked the pediatrician about them and she said that since they were symetrical on both feet, that it is not really a concern to her...but now that my daughter is getting older...she is 8....she is starting to have alot of pain along the instep of both of her feet where one of the bumps is located. They seem to follow a diagnigal(sp??) line one above the ankle and one below closer to the arch area(where she is having the pain). I had a podiatrist look at it briefly a few months ago when my other daughter was in her office and she said they may need to be xrayed. I have worked for a podiatrist before and I have never seen anything like this. Has anyone ever had this or seen this before...and if so, what was done to either elliviate the pain or correct the problem?
More information..
We are in the DFW Texas area
My daughter is currently 8 years old and a twin(fraternal with a brother)...not sure if that would matter...they were born at 36 weeks and she has been extremely healthy so far.
She is a little bigger than most children her age and recently we had a bone age scan done of her hands that showed her bones are those of a 10 1/2 year old.
She wears a size 5 shoe. And currently weighs about 80 pounds.
The bumps are slightly pink in color...and painful to walk(esp in the instep area)
She has had a couple of trips but no serious injuries to either foot and again since they are both the same I do not feel this is an injury anyway.
The extra bumps are hard to the touch...again like another ankle.
I started noticing the bumps a few years ago...but at that time they were not painful.
I hope I covered everything. If not please feel free to email me at
