Default 5th Metatarsal Fracture

So I fractured my 5th metatarsal on my left foot on April 1st. Navy Doc put me in a short leg cast non weight bearing for 4 weeks. Went back on fourth week got the cast off and had another xray done. Doc said callus beginning to form, and put me in a cam boot, partial weight bearing for two weeks, and told me that it was fine to put more and more weight on it (as long as there was no pain) each day. So it has been a week since then, I have been putting more and more weight on it and so far it feels ok. My only question is this: When I walk with the cam boot and put a lot of weight on it, or if I walk with the cam boot off and put a substantial amount of weight on it, I sometimes get a "pins and needles" feeling. Is this from nerve damage, not being healed enough to put weight on, or just from the foot not being used and needs to get used to having weight put on it again, and get stretched out? Thanks.

So-called "pins and needles" sensation is always the result of abnormal sensory nerve transmission. Whether this is in your case is the result of actual nerve injury or temporary pressure on a nerve or maybe putting a nerve partially bound down by perhaps scar tissue on the stretch and whether treatment is necessary would have to be determined by investigation.
