Default broken foot and proprioception

I finally had my cast removed on Tuesday and went from being completely non-weight bearing to full weight bearing.

I've been given a referral to a phyisiotherapist and have my first appointment on Friday. The referral is for strengthening, range-of-motion and proprioception.

The first two I understand. Proprioception I think I understand what it is but not quite sure I'm grasping what phyisotherapy will do to improve it.

Any ideas?

This question is more for my general interest than an urgent need. If I don't get a reply before I go, I'll certainly ask the physio when I see him.

Thanks.
