Default Pain and soft lump behind big toe

I have had pain for 6 months or longer behind my big toe. There is also swelling, like a soft lump on the top of my foot, behind the big toe. Any ideas what it might be?
Thank you!

"Behind my big toe" could be anywhere on the foot, but if it is really soft, one could probably exclude that it is bony. It could possibly be a lipoma or other soft tissue tumor or mass such as a ganlionic or synovial cyst, fibroma, hematoma or even a malignancy. But it is really rather non-productive to be flipping through possibilities, all or all but one of which will be incorrect. If after 6 months of pain you are not moved to see a doctor, then I guess that's YOUR choice. But even if someone by chance comes up with your diagnosis on the Internet, you'll still likely to have to have it professionally treated. So you'll pay now or you'll continue to suffer and perhaps pay much more later.
