Default Sesmoiditis?

I have had this pain in the ball of my foot since I did an ultrarun last September! I then developed pain in the FHL tendon on the same foot about 2 months later. I reduced my running drastically, mainly riding a bike or using a stair master, neither of which bothered the ankle. The pain in the ball of my foot eases up now and then, but the ankle is always tender/sore. I went to a Dr. who did a bone scan and mri, she said there was fluid in the tendon, wanted to give me a cortizine shot in the tendon, then next visit she never mentioned the shot neither did I. After another ultra run this year I went to PT, the ankle was very sore and would sometimes hurt up my leg - after running mainly. PT said it is most likely caused by my tight piriformis and tight calf muscle, and I had a rotated hip. So 2-3 months later I am still doing PT and I am still sore on my foot and the ankle is still sore! They can reduce the ankle pain with dry needling but it comes back after a day or so. My concern is they don't even bother to address the foot pain. I am wondering if a podiatrist would be worth visiting at this point? I used the cut out insert which helped some but it started rubbing my foot causing a blister. I even worked with 3 PT's all of which did something different but nothing helped. I am at my wits end with this - almost a year later

Default Re: Sesmoiditis?

I choose to take time answering questions here gratis in hopes of being able to impart some of the knowledge which I have gleaned over many years of training and several decades of podiatric practice in order to help questioners with their situations. However, in doing so, my goal is not always to answer the specific questions asked, but is not infrequently targeted at HOW those questions might be BETTER asked.

Your post is not atypical of those who might think that they have offered a cogent description of their problem, but have, in reality, offered only a jumbled, disjointed array of complaints and cursory explanations of diagnoses and treatment attempts. And, curiously, with all that, although you have titled your post, "Sesamoiditis?" you have mentioned absolutely nothing which might be considered consistent with such a diagnosis.

I repeatedly mention that those who entertain questions in this and forums such as this are in absolutely no position to offer or sort through diagnoses, and this post certainly epitomizes that position.

I would suggest that prior to seeing another doctor, that you better gather your thoughts and direct them at each individual problem, allow the clinician to connect them if appropriate and include a real-time chronology, a through revelation of each diagnosis obtained, the specifics of the treatments provided and detailed comments regarding the results obtained.

Though this answer is certainly not that for which you came here, and that might not please you, it is my best advice to you in this matter.
