Best treatment for small plantar fibroma?

I have what seems to be a small plantar fibroma (5 x 4mm) just superficial to the distal plantar fascia (from the ultrasound report; i'm no expert.) It doesnt bother me too much (had it for four weeks) but without looking at it a podiatrist recommended surgery. Seeing this is not the advice I've...
