Default linsfranc after removing screws

Hi Foot Doc,

I posted this at the end of another thread and did not know if you would catch it. I had surgery for a linsfranc fracture back in early April. The screws were removed July 23. Since then, there has not been a lot of improvement. Walking is difficult and painful, especially across the joint area of the big toe. I know that a full recovery is going to take some time, but there has been little or no improvement since the screws were taken out. I'm just wondering when I can expect to see some improvement and if this is "normal" for the recovery of this type of injury?

THANKS!

As I pointed out to the original poster, I don't know what severity of Lisfranc injury you sustained, but, depending on what constitutes recovery, it is not a surgery where one would normally expect a full recover in just a few months.

As an example, Indianapolis Colt's defensive lineman, Dwight Freeny, had a Lisfranc fracture operated in November 2007 and is not expect to be ready for play until the start of this coming season. Of course, he has special criteria for what constitutes recovery, but he also has both the availability of cutting edge rehab techniques and very likely a higher pain threshold than the average guy.

I would think that the best judge of how you are progressing would be the surgeon who operated on your foot and knows far more about you than anyone who has never met or examined you.
