5th metatarsal surgery

I broke my 5th metatarsal last week and had surgery tuesday of this week. They placed two screws to fuse the bones together. I go back for a follow up and a "hard cast" next tuesday. Do they normally put you in a fiberglass cast or a removable one like an air cast? What is the criteria (general) for that..i am hoping air cast not to sound strange but i have some mental aversion to getting a hard cast put on..
