mom fell down and hurt her foot?

I was outside skating in the driveway and my mom went out to the road to check the mail, she stepped in a mole hole and rolled her ankle an fell down. she immediately started crying like a baby.
20 or so minutes later after taking a few pictures i had to carry her to the house.

The few questions we have is what all are you suppose to do for a sprain.
So far she's only iced it what else can she do for it wrap it up or no? and also she wanted me to massage it a little is it a bad thing to do??
I'm just surprised that she cried from the pain i've never seen her cry before. Is it normal for a adult woman to cry from a sprain?
