Issues with big toenail....

Hi, I just joined here because I was looking for some advice. When I was 2 I broke my big toe on my left foot, I'm now 20 years old. It actually got squashed by a garden paving slab. I'm having issues with the toenail, I visited my doctor and he told me I had a fungal infection in the nail, so I was given antibiotics, I've had 2 courses of antibiotics and they haven't seemed to do anything. I asked him if he could remove the toenail and he said that he wouldn't.

So I don't really know what to do, I'm not even sure if it is a fungal infection as the nail ever since I broke it has always looked like that, kind of discoloured. It also looks to me like I have 2 nails, one growing under the first one, it's very hard to trim the nail as it's so thick.

The issue I'm having is it's causing me a lot of pain, my job involves me having to be on my feet for most of the day. My toe becomes inflamed and it throbs.

It also looks a lot different from my other big toe and it's quite a lot longer..

Does anyone have any ideas? I do have a picture, I hope you guys don't mind! sorry about my disgusting toe lol!
