Rolled my foot last week and broke my fifth metatarsal. I asked the podiatrist if it was a jones fracture (I know jones fracture bc I had one on my other foot ten years ago! Both times just rolled my foot when walking. I must have a funny walk! Haha). Podiatrist said it was really close to jones fracture, but didn’t say definitively. I’m a teacher, and with my summer off I have a big trip in three weeks so she told me to be NWB to see how much I can get it to heal before the trip. Virtually no pain when I’m just sitting, but sharp pain when the foot jostles or gets bumped.

Two things- the top of my foot is quite sore, the only place where I feel a tiny bit of pain when just sitting. Didn’t have this with last break. Any ideas why?

Also, if anyone has any magic to make a foot heal faster, I’m all ears! I’m off work anyway, so I’ve been lying on the couch, foot elevated. Taking extra calcium etc. My upcoming trip is a dream vacation, international etc, and I would love to at least be in a boot and cane rather than crutches. I’ve already cancelled the hikes I’ve planned. I’ll just have to enjoy what I get to see and not focus on what I’m missing....

Appreciate ny thought on this. I left my dr a message a few days ago and haven’t heard back. She was sweet as can be but she seemed a little unsure of diagnosis.

Could be when sitting, your natural circulation slows down and inflammation builds up. Keep up with cold and elevation.
